Our Parish's Nominated Mission for 2019-2020
Interserve Global Misson: Chris and Naomi
Chris and Naomi will be living in a rapidly growing city, bustling with people from many different ethnic groups. Local people are known for their tightly-knit families, spicy food, friendliness, deep sense of honour and community. However alongside so many beautiful threads to life here, are also woven daily struggles with widely spread corruption, discrimination and entrenched poverty.
For many groups, ethnic and religious identity are deeply interwoven, and commitment to the majority faith is an essential part of belonging to one's family group. Christians are a small but vibrant minority, living mainly in urban centres. Whilst religion matters deeply to people, ethnic and social barriers between groups are very great. one consequence of this is that the vast majority of people have heard about the grace and truth that God has poured out through Jesus Christ, or seen up close the difference Jesus makes in believers' lives.
